  Lyra is a personal assistant that allows a user to calculate and track their carbon (CO₂e) impact using conversational AI and machine learning agents. At Lyra, my role as co-founder was as the lead (full-stack) developer and technical advisor. My duties included maintaining Lyra’s front end web application, the back-end services (API and databases) and developing the AI and machine learning agents that we use for speech processing, calculations and data analysis. What is Lyra? One conversation with Lyra is all it takes to get a rough estimate of your carbon impact. You can have another conversation with Lyra in a week’s or months’ time to refine the calculations. With each conversation, Lyra can tailor its experience to you and suggest ways users can improve their efficiency or offset their impact. Lyra will be enhanced and supported by services that allow users to share their data with groups, communities, classes and companies. These can be publicly accessible, private to members or restricted to administrators. Later this year, at the user’s discretion, Lyra will be able to seamlessly integrate with existing third-party apps and services to further refine and tailor its calculations without negatively impacting on the user’s experience or daily life.
