1000 Degree Wood-Fired Pizza is a family-owned wood-fired pizza restaurant in Mt. Summit, Indiana, featured in travel blogs like "INIndiana" and highly rated by customers. While at 1000 Degree, I learned and participated in the inner workings of the restaurant industry, acquiring both operational and cooking skills. I constantly carried a company phone in order to be able to receive take-out orders from customers while also either preparing, cooking, or finishing pizzas as well as occasionally running the cash register. As a newer crew member, I also assisted with busing duties and dishwashing. Show less

The Bill of Rights Institute is a 501(c)(3) non-profit think-tank focused on youth engagement in the realm of civics and politics. During my junior and senior years of high school, I was fortunate to be able to participate in the inaugural and second classes of the Institute's student fellowship program. The fellowship brings together a select group of teens from across the country who are highly interested in civic discussion, specifically in the political journalism realm. During the program, fellows participate in a series of bi-weekly Zoom meetings where they discuss assigned readings, political journalism opportunity, and broader civic questions. These meetings culminate in a week-long "Capstone" event in DC and the creation of multiple group media productions. As someone raised in a secluded rural Hoosier town, this fellowship experience was eye-opening for me, showing me that I had peers who shared my passions for politics and civics and confirming my aspirations for a career in the world of law/politics.
