Richard Hewer
Sam is probably the most talented and conscientious young scientist I have known. I am continually impressed by his work ethic and quality of work. He has a key role supporting projects including generating qPCR expression data, plasmid cloning and routine mycoplasma testing. Sam has a good and confident knowledge of molecular biology but has also always taken an active interest in other disciplines; over the last few years I have had detailed discussions with him about my own work as an in vitro pharmacologist and he has asked good questions about this. Recently Sam has rapidly attained many new skills in cell biology as a part of his dissertation project which in my opinion has been exceptionally well executed with an approach and critical thought that is beyond his current grade and could be expected of a completing PhD candidate, although he has only just completed his degree (well ahead of schedule). He has a lot of potential to develop further and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sam for any position appropriate to his skills and experience. He would be an excellent asset to any team.
