    • Market Researcher

In the summer of 2017, Sam conducted a market analysis of the different fats present in Black Soldier Fly Larvae. This was done through the University of Sheffield on behalf of Entomics Biosystems Ltd. The first task was to collate data as to the different fats that were relevant to the study. To acquire the right information required well-structured mapping of what information was required and an open mindset to finding it. This required flexibility in the research methods such as reading company websites, research articles and directly contact relevant producers and consumers of the different fat products. This was especially necessary when acquiring information on sales pricing and production sizes as a variety of different data sources were needed. When directly contacting different companies, Sam needed to have a clear understanding of what I was asking for and whom I wished to talk to as this could become muddled when talking to different companies. Key information was shared with the supervising professor in weekly meetings and reports. Sam was also involved in client communication and gave a presentation to the managers of Entomics during a sight visit to highlight the key finding for their consideration. At the end of the project was completed with the collation and submission of the aquired information in the form of a report which was well received. Show less

In the summer of 2016, I was approved to conduct a research project to construct a computer model to map the adsorption/desorption of gas in CO2 fractured shale gas well. The model was constructed using FOTRAN which I assisted a professor in creating. My initial task was to acquire data to set input parameters for the model. This required extensive research and gave me the opportunity to enhance my skills of speed reading to extract required information properly quickly. I then presented my findings to my supervising professor in a critical review. During the testing and running of the model, I was tasked with converting the raw data into readable results for analysis. This was done through Excel and I discussed with my supervisor often about how best to present and interpret the data. From this, I also gained experience in working in the field of research and how communication works up the chain of seniority. At the end of the project, I presented my findings in a technical report and during a symposium with a presentation and poster. From this, I gained some valuable experience in writing up my findings to a professional standard. Having to present my findings in a symposium allowed me to see how I may pitch ideas in the future and gain more experience in public speaking. After submitting my work, I was commended for my efforts by my supervisor and the head of the program. Show less

Tasks involved day to day mentoring and pastoral care of children aged 6-16. At the same time Sam was a specialist tennis coach and involved in private and group coaching as part of the sports programme for all the children at Raquette Lake Camps. This emphasised discipline and required working long hours in which constant attentiveness and enthusiasm were required to control the children.
