      As part of the nanotechnology research and development program, I performed composite fabrication and testing support. Some projects require mechanical fixturing, whose design and fabrication is completed in-house. I am lucky enough to keep my CAD skills fresh, while running development experiments and running mechanical tests at the lamina, laminate and sub-component level. I transitioned my role to encompass other responsibilities including carbon-nanostructure growth process development and upgrades for the CVD growth systems.

      I studied the mechanical properties of Carbon Nanotube-enhanced glass and carbon fiber composites in the MicroMaterials Laboratory with Dr. Marc Zupan as my advisor. I performed research at UMBC but also at Lockheed Martin as part of my graduate thesis. In addition to my research, I worked as a teaching assistant for the Materials Lab class. I ran the laboratory session showing the students how to run various mechanical tests on tests. I also dabbled with some low density cores for composite sandwich panels. I remained active on the Mini Baja team as the treasurer, welder and driver.
