  Working with a grant from the Brookings Institute, we began the Materials Sustainability Standards research project. I read and dissected a number of building material sustainability standards and worked with four other students to compare the standards with each other, with the industry as it is, and with calls for "greener" practices in other sectors of industry. The ultimate goals of the study are both to gain more consistency in this field and make it geared towards the consumer so that a purchaser can know exactly what a company means when they claim a product is green.
