Bio
Neil Thomas
Sam is an outstanding professional who sets the highest standards, whether this is for his students, within the Design and Technology department that he works in or for himself. He leads by example, and this begins in the classroom, where he is an excellent classroom practitioner. His lessons are challenging, exciting and at the forefront of teaching practice. This is particularly the case with his use of digital technology in lessons, where Sam continually looks to implement innovative and forward-thinking initiatives. Through this modelling of excellence, Sam inspires his students to achieve their absolute best with technology at the core of his teaching pedagogy. Sam's passion for using digital technology within education emanates to his classes and his colleagues. His open-door policy allows teachers within Doha College to drop into his lessons to see him modelling its highly effective use. Key to his success in doing this is his ability to work with others (students, teachers and parents) and his deep, theoretical understanding of how technology can impact the world of education, which he has developed through completing this Masters degree. Sam's ability to be self-reflective allows him to continually look at ways to develop his skills to enhance his classroom practice and use of technology. I would recommend Sam for any teaching role as a Design and Technology teacher, especially knowing that he can add wider value to the school community. I would also happily recommend him for a leadership role as he has the skill set that would allow him to do a fantastic job.
Brian Kerr
Samuel is a passionate and highly skilled educational technologist. He has a deep knowledge of numerous information systems/platforms, and is able to successfully convey to colleagues how these intersect with education, emphasising their wide ranging benefits within teaching and learning. Samuel has provided continuous support in the Doha College's drive towards a more integrated digital landscape by delivering staff training, leading strategy groups, and solving educational problems with digital solutions. His commitment to EdTech is unparalleled, and I would not hesitate to endorse him for a leadership position in this field.
