  This summer research internship was funded by the London Mathematical Society and the University of Glasgow. During the project my supervisor and I wrote a computer program in Python to draw tilings of the hyperbolic plane by congruent triangles. We then used this program to compute the length of the shortest closed geodesic, known as the systole, on compact surfaces tiled by congruent triangles.
