Gary Byrne
I had the pleasure of recruiting Sam onto our Graduate Management Programme and watching him flourish throughout the programme. Even before Sam joined the programme his natural qualities set him apart from his peers at the assessment centre, where others gravitated towards him for support and guidance - his measured, composed and calm approach really stood out. Sam is a natural with people and he quickly senses how he can integrate and gain trust within a team, which he demonstrated every time he moved on to a new placement or project. It is not just the people skills that Sam posses that set him apart though, it is also his ability to identify the real crucial aspects of any role or task so he can contribute and make the biggest impact. This was evident throughout his time on the programme, especially when there were many competing priorities and projects, Sam was always adding significant value. The feedback I received about Sam from Directors and senior management following each placement was phenomenal and all could see him working within their teams, which was testament to Sam's qualities and contribution considering the variety of departments and tasks he completed throughout the programme. I continue to follow Sam's career with interest as I have no doubt he will continue to grow and achieve his personal and professional aspirations.

As Sam’s mentor, I had the pleasure of working closely with him whilst he undertook his Graduate placement at Eddie Stobart Logistics. Sam is a hard working, ambitious and dependable individual who is not afraid to throw himself in at the deep end. During Sam’s time with ESL, he was quickly able to overcome any challenges that he faced and he was confidently able to identify ways of continuous improvement, which benefited not only himself but also others within his team. Sam is incredibly likeable, supportive and has a fantastic personality and a work ethic which he is to be commended for. Sam’s sheer determination to develop and shape his own knowledge and career path is truly inspiring. I wish Sam well in his career and the very best for his future.
