Joined David Wilson Homes as a trainee surveyor after completing my degree. Working within the commercial department I have had vast exposure to all areas of the business. It was made clear to me that I would be able to continue studying and have done so on a day release basis at Birmingham City University studying for a HNC in Construction.

Six weeks spent with the Quantity Surveying department, focusing on cost management within the housing construction sector. I undertook site visits with a member of the quantity surveying team. Contacted various sub-contractors to ascertain their interest in tendering for key contact works, prior to the issuing of relevant documentation. Experienced time with the buying section, understanding how the procurement process operates, and cover all purchasing for the on-going development of sites. Helped develop the creation of an Excel spreadsheet to assist with and ease the process of calculating overall site costs.

Worked for Waitrose PLC as a customer service shop assistant and home shop delivery driver during a break from my studies after sixth form and before commencing university. I gained invaluable experience of working within a well established customer focused environment developing pivotal team working skills and becoming a strong member of the delivery crew. Having daily contact with the general public without question developed further my interpersonal skills and whilst being regularly based on the customer delivery team, I became used to operating to stringent deadlines, ensuring that all orders were processed efficiently and shipped on time.
