This role started of being a research and development role to decide whether or not they could switch from proprietary hardware to more commercial available products, this in turn allowed them to maintain the hardware at a lower cost and be more robust in which environments that the equipment was used and when it was used. The main programming languages used during my time within this position was C++ and Visual Basic.Net, the way in which they where used where to allow peripherals connect to the Simulation program Virtual Battlespace 2 (VBS2).
