Here I used my previous skills gained at Kelly Communications, whilst also learning and adapting as I went. My job role comprised of multiple different tasks; pulling in subduct, blowing fibre, translating fibre schematics, splicing nodes and completing civils digs to resolve blockages in the ducts. my tasks have also included building and prepping AFNs (ariel fibre nodes) ready to be mounted on poles, translating maps into a work plan, ensuring node locations are accounted for. we always aim to follow the allocated route as it is based around customer reach. Re-directing can cause a loss in customers due to duct layout. All in all, we play a large part in building the Box Broadband Fibre Network in our allocated areas. Show less

Here I gained all of my fibre relevant qualifications, which I used to complete multiple "Fibre to the Premises" jobs. My role entailed connecting customers up to the Openreach Fibre Network; throughout Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire. I thoroughly enjoyed the job role, however I couldn't find peace with the work and payment structure that Kelly Communications were using. Throughout the winter months, myself and our team would work tirelessly through evening to early morning keeping private sites across the Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire areas safe for their staff. we spread salt across the site, following assigned maps, all to ensure ice was unable to form. In this role, I managed and maintained multiple, large, National Grid sites across the whole of the UK. Taking teams with me to every location. Being allocated staff that lived close to the site I was working on that day, meant only having a short period of time to get to know them in the morning. In that time I made sure to work out what their strengths and weaknesses were to ensure I gave them the correct role for the day; keeping the operation running as smoothly and as efficiently as possible. When Covid came about, the privilege of having a team was taken away from me to keep staff interactions to a minimum. This meant taking on extra hours and work load to keep our operations running smoothly. It was exhausting, however I loved the challenge and kept all sites up to date throughout. Show less
