As part of the districts Professional Development Team, I provide input into the needs of our building, and I am working with the Fine and Performing Arts teachers throughout the district to develop career pathways. Managing the testing program at the high school level is especially important because it can impact our students ability to graduate. I currently train teachers for test security and administration, enrolled students for the needed assessments, develop a testing schedule, coverage plan, and ensure all materials are secured throughout the test window. Once assessment data is returned to the school, I disagrigate the data so that teachers can see how their current and previous students performed on assessments. I also worked with our buildings instructional coach to create a professional development opportunity and work as a staff to evaluate school level to determine areas in need of improvement. Once those areas of need were identified, the teachers developed goals for their personal professional development plans, which are developed and updated on a yearly basis. I also oversee the 10th grade and work with various school and community resources to support student behavior. I have developed a survey that we will administer to the entire building to determine how we can create a safer school, improve relationships in the building, and provide the best high school experience possible to our students. I extensively used the Student Assistance Team (SAT) meetings to address student behavior, and work with the students and parents in determining the causes of negative behavior and develop plans on how to address those behaviors. I was active in performing walk throughs, observations, and evaluationing teachers. Along with the principal, we use this data to inform decisions on the types of professional development our teachers receive, as well as encouraging teachers to work collegially to ensure successful lessons and discipline policies are provided throughout the building. The improvements that teachers make in their practice are noted, and also used as a piece of evidence in their final evaluation. I also oversee the custodial staff, and provide direction as to how to ensure the school is kept safe and clean. I also lead the selection of candidates and the hiring of any candidate chosen to fill vacancies as they arise. I am using the knowledge that I have learned in my graduate studies to advance my career. Upon completion of my Masters in Education Leadership, I am now licensed in the state of N.J. as a Supervisor, Principal, and School Administrator. I am also certified in the State of New Mexico as a K-12 School Administrator. I graduated in 2010 with my Masters in Music Education, and again in 2012 with my Masters in Education Leadership.
