Samora did an amazing job hosting during my recent trip to Japan with Wind Collective. His cultural knowledge, Japanese language proficiency, and fun attitude made it a trip to remember. He did well with navigating the weather and being flexible without it causing too much disruption to the trip. 10/10 would go on a trip with him again!

Samora was the local host for my trip to Japan (August 20 -29, 2023) through The Wind Collective, a creative visual production travel agency. My sister and I, alongside 11 other travelers living in the United States and Canada, embarked on a 10-day journey with Samora guiding us through three major diverse cities in Japan. Our adventure started in TOKYO covering the old and new areas of the city; afterwards, we stepped back into time in KYOTO; then spent the rest of the time enjoying food, fun, and nightlife in OSAKA before heading back to Tokyo. Samora’s background as an educator and resident in Japan provided us ample opportunities to learn from and participate in cultural experiences like the Kimono Tea Ceremony at Kyoto Maikoya. His insight and knowledge of Japanese language, traditions, and customs were highly sought after and enhanced our ability to engage and interact. I personally loved being able to sense Japan from both a local and tourist perspective, especially as we navigated throughout the cities by public transportation stations (subways, trains, etc.) on foot. Having Samora’s guidance, particularly during what I called

As Trip Manager/ Planner & Creative Explorer (Host) for The Wind Collective, a dynamic global travel community, I actively engage in diverse responsibilities aimed at facilitating seamless and enjoyable travel experiences. Pre-Trip: Expertly plan, budget, and create immersive trip itineraries, including sourcing transportation, activities/experiences, and accommodation arrangements, in collaboration with our on-ground partners. Generate various trip planning assets, such as website itinerary copy, welcome packs, and photoshoot mood boards, to enhance trip experience and communication. Serve as the primary contact point for all itinerary-related matters, ensuring smooth and efficient coordination. Work in close alliance with our customer service assistant to manage monthly pre-trip communication. Equip the trip host/s with comprehensive trip plans and logistics for effective trip execution. If I am also the host, I manage the trip's WhatsApp group for real-time, efficient communication. During Trip: Oversee and adjust bookings as necessary, including those for restaurants, activities/experiences, and accommodations, ensuring smooth operations and minimal disruption to the itinerary. On ground, I take up the role of the primary contact for all itinerary items and am responsible for timely and effective problem resolution. Hosting: Maintain a high-energy, positive environment to ensure a memorable and comfortable experience for all travelers. Conduct traveler orientation at the start of the trip, providing guidance and information regarding day-to-day itinerary activities. Provide pastoral care and support to travelers, ensuring their wellbeing and satisfaction throughout the trip. Attend all mandatory day-to-day itinerary activities, ensuring smooth execution and problem resolution. In absence of the planner, take up the mantle of itinerary-related problem-solving, ensuring effective communication of any changes with fellow hosts. Show less
