Bio
Satya Prakash Dash
Sam and I have collaborated on various projects since 2001 when we joined for PhD at the School of Biological Sciences. I have seen Sam combine his superb scientific acumen with wider public objectives. During the PhD Sam deftly organised several intense laboratory projects with other activities such as providing guidance to undergraduates and other Masters level postgraduate, organising PhD and post-doc societies and sometimes single-handedly ran the logistics of the entire lab. Sam is very amiable, is calm under pressure, focussed, motivated, team player and possesses strong leadership qualities. He is widely read and can hold a conversation on a wide variety of subjects be it in science, impact of science and technology policies, arts and international geo-politics amongst others. What sets him apart is that he is able to synergise the very best of technical expertise and integrate it with the ‘systems’ thinking about wider ramifications of science and technology through eloquent communicative skills that he possesses be it in peer reviewed journal articles which he has continuously published since his PhD days, presentations, public speaking and other relevant articles for the wider scientific communities, policy makers and technologists. He is an immense positive asset to any organization. Since successfully finishing his PhD, he has become part of an exceptional publishing house based out of the Europe’s scientific hub- Heidelberg. I wish Sam the very best of professional and personal career.
