Samaura was a clear standout of the 2023 Marketing intern class at IBM. From the moment I met her, I was impressed by her poise, curiosity and eagerness to learn. During her 10-weeks at IBM working on the Brand Marketing team, I had the pleasure to manager Samaura directly and get a front-row seat into her ability to think strategically, her organizational prowess, and her incredible growth in such a short time. Throughout the internship, Samaura was tasked with developing a strategy for our brand-level podcast, Smart Talks with IBM, in collaboration with a fellow intern and our team. Despite being given a challenging problem statement and wide scope, Samaura was able to zoom in on the top-level priorities and find the common thread to weave various ideas together into a cohesive strategy, which she later presented out to the larger marketing organization. Samaura was also highly organized – taking initiative to map out the project in an easily digestible way and realigning on objectives when necessary. Lastly, Samaura truly embodied a growth mindset by creating a list of goals at the start of her internship, all of which she met or exceeded by the end of the summer. It’s clear that Samaura is a go-getter with a bright future ahead of her and we’re looking forward to welcoming her back to IBM.

I was honored to work alongside Samaura on the CIVICUS Student Advisory Board. Her positive attitude combined with her business skillset made her a unique asset on our team. Samaura's ability to create innovative solutions to problems made our Board successful. When she realized the lack of communication between directors, she implemented Airtable so we could all track the status of each other's projects. This opened the doors to collaboration, communication, and productivity. CIVICUS is a living and learning community focused on service. A lot of times, the passion to do service overwhelms the logistical aspects, preventing the board from reaching its potential. Samaura's passion for service and her business background made her the perfect person to maximize the success of our work. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it. She was the first person to show up to many events and the last person present to help clean up; she always had a smile on her face. Serving on the CIVICUS Student Advisory Board with Samaura leading the charge to better our community was an honor. Her problem-solving skills, uplifting attitude, and passion to inspire positive change would make her an ideal candidate for any company.
