Samantha was a great addition to our team! I could always count on her to quickly come up with creative solutions to problems, to complete tasks in a timely fashion, and develop creative and engaging content. I learned quickly that I could trust her judgement and could lean on her for advice. She's very organized and focused. I know she'll do well in future positions.

Boom to Blight: Brush Park, 1900-1950
-
Detroit, MI
-
Creator
-
Nov 2015 - May 2017
• Conducted historical research to develop an insightful narrative about Detroit’s Brush Park neighborhood, discussing the significance of its transformation in the early 20th century and current redevelopment • Built a website for this historical study to preserve its story in an easily-accessible location for current residents This final project fulfilled the requirements of EMU's Historic Preservation graduate program. This is a web-based historical study of Detroit's Brush Park neighborhood, and the lasting effects of its intense transitional period between 1900 + 1950, which was impacted by the city’s early-20th century industrial boom, growing middle class, and shifting demographics. I developed this project as a method of preserving the underrated experiences of this neighborhood in a location easily-accessible to modern and future Detroiters, so they may apply these lessons to the betterment of our city.
