  As a Head of Department I am involved in the management of the curriculum to ensure that all lessons are timetabled correctly. The main part of this role is the day to day running of a department with 7 A-level subjects and 9 Vocational courses, approximately 900 students and a team of 25 teaching staff. The key responsibility is to ensure high quality of teaching, learning and assessment on all courses from level 1 - level 3. This is achieved through conducting drop in observations and professional discussions to support for staff with their continuous professional development.Also as part of this role I have worked with other Heads of Department, The Senior Leadership Team and local employers to work towards a curriculum offer that meets the needs of local employers.Alongside all of this I have been writing the self assessment report to review the department's performance in the previous academic year and through reflection suggest improvements that should be made moving forward in the pursuit of excellence.
