At Children’s House provided early learning opportunities and all-day care for infants through pre-kindergarten in a secure, fun and educational environment. Ensured the children were at low ratios that allowed caring for each child. Offered play-based learning opportunities for all ages in our classrooms and a spacious outdoor playground. Focused on Social/emotional development including practice, expressing and understanding feelings, taking turns, and playing in a group setting. Language/communication development included the use of sign language, talking, and lots of reading together time. Cognitive development included exploring such concepts as "in and out", "heavy and light", numbers, colors, problem solving, and pretend play. While working in the Toddler Room children were encouraged to develop their independence, while we kept in mind each individual's varying time schedule and needs. Ensured equipment encouraged children's emerging independence. Children were encouraged to "use words" and to give gentle touches as the means of acceptable communication. While working in Preschool room focused on Self-help skills, Life skills, Math, Science, Literacy skills, social skills, and children work on problem solving skills and conflict resolution skills. While working with The Children house I was taught and participated in child activities on a daily basis to ensure infants and toddlers with special needs were identified and referred for evaluation. Collect data from team members and agencies involved in the evaluation process of toddlers and infants over a 6 months’ time frame. Would then interpret appropriate assessments to determine children's level of performance. After each child was evaluated then discussed assessment results with parents. Provided documentation of my evaluation and feedback to parents. Coordinated services across agency lines for infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families. Show less
