Provide basic nutritional information to elementary aged children throughout the Lincoln Public Schools District. Once a week I attend an elementary school in the Lincoln Northeast YMCA district. During the after school program I am allotted time to spend with the children where I teach the importance of a healthy diet. I may teach them through games that involve them to get physically active or stimulate their minds. Examples of activities I have taught the children are the foods found in each food group through a game of tag. I have also taught the children various foods a certain nutrient may be rich in such as calcium. The children then filled in each bone on a skeleton print out with a food high in calcium. Show less
