Samantha is a bubbly, highly creative and hard working individual, who I had the pleasure of studying A level textiles with. Throughout our time at Goffs School and into university she has shown a strong passion and ability for fashion design. My favourite outfit that she has created has to be her cheer leading outfit. I was extremely impressed with her high level of skill in pattern cutting, as she designed and created the design from scratch. With Samantha's determination and hard-working ethic, along with her passion for design and pattern cutting I know she will be a success within the industry.

For 2 months I worked alongside the Design and Business team of Vielma London for the AW15 collection. My role was to be in charge of:  Helping the design team with cutting fabrics  Creating tech packs for the factories  Lay plans for costings  Creating working drawings on illustrator  Keeping track of the work in progress of the design team For 2 months I worked alongside the Design and Business team of Vielma London for the AW15 collection. I was given the chance to begin a one month work placement at Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, where I experienced the production aspect of the fashion industry. Tasks that I undertook were, quality control and quantity checks on clothes ready for delivery to the shops, measuring the correct amount of fabrics and components to be sent to the factories, wrapping and packing of prototypes to be sent back to New York and the press, stock taking where I organised the components into size, colour, length and style. Other tasks included re-sewing garments such as buttons onto a dress ready for a photo shoot, sourcing components from around London, picking clothing up from other companies and tracing pattern pieces ready for manufacturing. I gained experience when working for an up and coming designer, Luke Archer London. This was for his first collection; shown in Brick Lane London in September 2013. Whilst working with Luke Archer I created toiles, learnt how to create patterns on a mannequin using various techniques. He entrusted me to design different types of effects for an outfit and I was credited for my beaded hem design on one of his garments which was exhibited at the fashion show. I also helped behind the scenes of his show and help set up backstage. Show less

In 2011, I had the opportunity to take part in a two week work placement in the designing department of Alison Hayes. It was a brilliant opportunity and this is where I first got an insight into the fashion industry. My duties included creating inspiration boards to show clients, organising the offices for designs, this included fabrics and old designs. This allowed me to have an insight previous design collections and fabrics the brand use.
