I had the pleasure of working with Sam at News Corp. I was in a commercial leadership role and Sam was my finance partner. I really enjoyed working with Sam as she was a great anticipator and collaborator who did not just accept status quo, she would constantly seek more innovative or efficient ways of doing things whilst consistently delivering to tight deadlines.

I had the pleasure of working with Sam for a number of years at News Corp. She started off as my stakeholder in Production & Logistics and later on as my manager in Group FP&A. Sam is one of the rare managers who possess both very strong technical and people skills; hence I firmly believe Sam is one of the best finance managers I had the privilege to work with. From a technical viewpoint, she has demonstrated superior analytical and problem-solving abilities, as well as an in depth knowledge of finance systems and processes. For instance, Sam was the go-to person for budgeting/forecasting and TM1, not just within our team but across the wider finance; she was always in demand, especially during crunch time! In addition, she successfully streamlined and automated our reporting templates which saved considerable time at budget/forecasts/end of month; she also made sure the templates were adaptable to different situations, which proved that she is highly intelligent and always forward-thinking in her work. From a people-skill viewpoint, Sam is a natural leader and an inspiring mentor. She knows how to guide each team member in order to get the best out of each individual, and at the same time able to manage various expectations from our stakeholders. She has a very hands on approach and the whole team all look up to her and are very appreciative of her guidance. On a personal note, she has helped me tremendously during a a family emergency; she went above and beyond as a manager to ensure I received the support needed to overcome the situation and I am forever grateful. My experience working with Sam has been so incredibly positive and rewarding. I have no hesitation in recommending Sam to any leadership finance roles and would love another opportunity to work with her again in the future. Sam will undoubtedly make a very valuable asset to any organization she works for.
