As Executive Director of this student run organization, I am able to oversee and facilitate the planning of the organization’s events and activities that are intentionally planned to ensure we reach our mission statement goals and purpose. Furthermore, I am able to serve as a representative of the Executive Space in order to collaborate with the other Pilipinx organizations to create an inclusive space for students to thrive in. I maintain our partnerships with outside organizations in order to further educate the community of Pilipinx health issues as well as further the organization’s presence in the community through networking and partnerships.

As Vice Executive Director I was able to reach our mission statement goals because I coordinated and hosted weekly intern class meetings that provide professional, academic, and cultural resources to the organization’s interns. The intern… Show more The mission statement for Pilipino Association for Health Careers is, "to serve as a support group for those interested in health-related careers and to educate the community on health-related issues pertaining to Pilipinx and their extended communities." As Vice Executive Director I was able to reach our mission statement goals because I coordinated and hosted weekly intern class meetings that provide professional, academic, and cultural resources to the organization’s interns. The intern classes were meant to foster holistic learning so some classes I have hosted are: "how to get research," "budgeting 101," "health disparities pertaining to the Pilipinx Community," mental health workshops, and more. I was also able to fulfill an inclusive learning and social space because I planned programs that maintains the wellness of our board members and intern members. For example, we programmed team-building workshops, planned free and/or low-cost socials to allow our members to maintain their mental health, and conducted mid-semester evaluations to create individualistic support and gain knowledge on what programs are needed through this needs assessment.

I was able to assist in the fulfillment of this mission statement as the Publicity Coordinator because I acted as a liaison between the Berkeley community and the organization through publicizing our various events. This took form as social media campaigns, advertisements, tabling, etc. Not only did I maintain the professional visibility for this organization, but I also created a digital magazine as an educational tool for purposes of health advocacy. The digital magazine was distributed freely to those who have internet access as a means to share the intentionality of our programming, the health disparities our communities face, and more.
