  The Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) delivers the Australian Government Department of Health’s National Aged Care Advocacy Program (NACAP) through a nationally consistent delivery model. Since the establishment of OPAN in 2017, the organisation has become recognised as the national peak of aged care advocacy in Australia. OPAN is an important voice for older people who are consumers (or prospective consumers) of the Australian Aged Care System and independent advocacy. OPAN currently consist of nine member organisations, the Service Delivery Organisation (SDOs) delivering NACAP in their jurisdiction / catchment area. OPAN delivers service through a suite of national projects and the SDO network of older persons advocacy services across Australia My role is to: Ensure the voice of older people remains relevant and at the centre of all of the work OPAN does and what OPAN advocates for. Oversee the ongoing development and strengthening of OPAN's consumer networks through a national consumer engagement strategy that includes pathways for input into Policy, Communications/Education and Systemic Advocacy activities. Promote the voice of the older person and the implementation of consumer participation in OPAN internal advisory groups Lead the Policy and Systemic Advocacy team to deliver on OPAN's peak body status by developing thorough, insightful and unique policy papers, position statements, stakeholder meetings/events and submissions. Lead the organisation’s systemic advocacy work through proactive and reactive advocacy campaigns and positions. Stakeholder engagement and relationship management through maintaining positive and professional relationships with all stakeholders and growing external stakeholder networks to build partnerships and keep informed of sector developments Show less
