Director of Strategic Initiatives, Queens Borough Commissioner's Office
-
Feb 2015 - Jul 2022
As Director of Strategic Initiatives for the NYC DOT my focus is to provide equitable transportation opportunities throughout the borough of Queens. Using my experience and education I develop projects and perform community outreach to improve New York City streets for all users. I have a strong commitment to mobility as a fundamental human right and I’ve dedicated myself to providing access to essential services for all. During my time at NYC DOT I managed high-priority projects and programs originating from agency safety policies, mobility plans and mayoral initiatives (Vision Zero, Streets Master Plan, Better Buses Action Plan, Green Wave Bicycle Plan, Jamaica NOW! Action Plan, Neighborhood Development Fund, Neighborhood Capital Coordination). I assessed the allocation of agency resources and collaborates with internal planning units to develop projects to address safety, mobility, streetscape and state-of-good-repair needs for historically underserved areas especially lower-income, transit-dependent areas and neighborhoods that were hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic. I directed public engagement for agency initiatives and projects acted as the main point-of-contact for elected officials, community boards, civic organizations and the public. I provided project management from scoping and design to outreach, implementation and evaluation for Street Improvement Projects. I acted as lead for capital project scoping and development and managed the review process for capital projects originating at NYC sister agencies and NY State agencies. Show less
