I worked on a summer research project in Professor Hille’s lab, and I directly researched and worked with Professor Dingwall. My work entailed purifying a recombinant plant sulfite oxidase in the hopes of preserving its activity (for kinetic assays).

    • Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leader
      • Sep 2016 - Jun 2018

SI (Supplemental Instruction) is an academic assistance program that uses peer-led group study to help students succeed in traditionally difficult courses. As an SI leader, I facilitate learning and provide interactive learning environment for fellow undergraduate students in courses that I have previously taken. I work with organic chemistry and biochemistry students. I also work and collaborate with professors to better the learning experience

I am a coauthor of three papers in Dr. Richard Hooley's lab. These publications represent my work synthesizing small guest molecules and short fluorescent tags for use in cavitands (a self-assembled molecular recognition system) to identify post-translational modifications in cells. I also synthesized a variety of fluorophore handles for use in displacement arrays to monitor translation modification rates. I also synthesized a variety of fluorophore handles for use in displacement arrays to monitor translation modification rates. During my time in Dr. Hooley’s lab, I was heavily exposed to many organic synthesis techniques, purification techniques (i.e. acid wash, column chromatography), as well as analytical techniques (i.e. NMR and SPR operations). My experience in this lab fostered my love for teamwork and encouraged me to work closely with my PI and graduate students. As a part of the research group, I also have experience with presenting research talks, both my own and pertinent scientific literature, during our lab meetings. My lab experience encouraged me to ask more questions and be more involved in the scientific process.

Internship program that provides experience within the criminal justice system and raises awareness of the DA Office's role in the community. Provided educational workshops to better understand the criminal justice system and ended with shadowing a forensics technician to gain better understanding of the field. • Medical Office Assistant
      • Aug 2014 - Nov 2015

I became very familiar with the medical health care system, as I was in charge of updating health alerts and data into patients' charts. I also gained experience with accounting (billing, copays, and insurance codes) and I.T. work. I am familiar with ICD9 and ICD10 codes (as well as medical terminology). I also transcribed doctor’s notes, organized data, managed prescriptions, input medical records, and prepared patient rooms and vaccines.
