The CAP Compliance team ensures advertising is in line with ASA rulings, using a range of sanctions to ensure that those who do not amend or withdraw advertising which has been ruled to breach the Code are made to do so. My role includes seeking opportunities to achieve high levels of compliance with the Codes; highlighting repeated breaches to individual advertisers and offering practical advice on how to improve future compliance. My experience includes: Working with advertisers to resolve clear cut breaches of the Codes, offering copy advice focused on highlighting best practice approaches and working towards compromise solutions advertisers are content with, allowing them to keep to their chosen creative approach while avoiding further action or investigation by the ASA or CAP. Writing and presenting bespoke presentations and workshops to national and global industry members, providing bespoke advice and expertise about how to comply with the Code, as well as motoring, gambling and social media-specific presentations to industry: taking responsibility for providing guidance, specialist knowledge and expert advice to colleagues on a number of specific sectors as and when necessary (specifically around motoring, gambling, environmental, travel, e-cigarettes and developing social media). Effectively and clearly communicating policy and regulatory updates to internal and external stakeholders, drawing out the substance of rulings to highlight potential breaches of the Code. Planning and managing projects including writing and publicising bespoke guidance documents for specific sectors of the advertising industry, delivering key project objectives on time and keeping relevant internal and external stakeholders informed. Compiling reports for advertisers who have had a number of breaches of the code, identifying and focussing on patterns, advising and supporting them to ensure these are dealt with and marketing stays on the right side of the line.
