An award-nominated podcast—formerly B/R Football Ranks—now turned independent and expanding into new areas and new formats. Myself, Jack and Dean are creating informative but fun football podcasts with a unique dynamic and balance. I recently commenced my fifth season contributing to Southampton's official matchday magazine and my second season writing for the club's official website. I supply an Opposition Tactical Analysis piece for the magazine, previewing the opponent for the day, explaining how they play and where the strengths and weaknesses lie. Key threats are picked out, vital statistics presented and an annotated predicted XI for the day sits alongside it. I also write once a week for the website, the subject for more varied this time; perhaps a closer look at an opponent or a scouting profile of a new acquisition.

      • Jan 2019 - Oct 2020

Launched in January 2019, Ranks brought myself, B/R’s transfer insider Dean Jones and host Jack Collins together to produce a weekly podcast on football.Fast-paced with a clear structure and focus on ranking things—players, teams, predictions, anything!—it balances informative analysis with light-heartedness.Eighteen months in we passed the 30,000 subscriber mark, with a particularly large segment on the audience located in the USA. We spent the summer of 2019 meeting some of them on a mini-tour of the US, visiting three states and covering football there. In 2019, we placed 2nd in the FSF Podcast of the Year award (to the Peter Crouch podcast).

    • Writer & Presenter
      • May 2012 - Oct 2020

I began writing part-time for Bleacher Report in May 2012 and moved into a full-time position in November of that year, covering football from every angle. In August 2013 I was promoted to Lead Writer, heading B/R's drive into the UK market and penning various types of content, from slideshows to in-depth tactical analyses to match reports live from stadiums. In November 2015, I began working in front of camera, filming short, sharp videos for our app and hosting Facebook Lives whilst continuing to write. In 2019 we launched the B/R Football Ranks podcast, while 2020 brought presenting opportunities both in branded content (working with the likes of Deliveroo and Football Manager) and the chance to host Instagram Lives on @brfootball (7m followers) with Marcus Rashford, Bernardo Silva and Memphis Depay.Over the course of my time with B/R, I learned to create and deliver high-quality content in whichever form was required, whilst also gaining additional skills such as live production of shows, Photoshop and a small amount of video editing.
