I manage Minnehaha Academy's technology team, advise the school on the impact of technology on education, develop and maintain R scripts to connect our information systems together via API, and authorize and budget technology purchasing. I am very interested in the impacts of data and artificial intelligence systems on education.

My official job has always been "teacher" but I have been a go-to technology expert throughout my time teaching. Typically a teacher or administrator said something like, "I wish __ could do __." and I couldn't turn down the challenge of making that happen.Over the last year and a half, I have studied data science using R statistical programming. I immediately used it to develop several web applications for interacting with Minnehaha's user data in an online learning management system. These are capabilities that the LMS does not provide in its UI. Another major project I successfully undertook was porting our attendance and grade data between Minnehaha's online API-based data system and Minnehaha's Oracle databases. Overall, I've generated close to 10,000 lines of R code to accomplish these tasks. In 2012, I learned to program microcontrollers such as Arduinos and Raspberry Pi's. The most important project I've worked on is co-founding and running a student-centered engineering project where Minnehaha students design, develop and send small experiments to the International Space Station for remote data gathering each year. This is a major challenge and requires a strict timeline, checking N.A.S.A. specifications, tricky coding and advanced electrical work. I also worked on several other fun projects including creating a robotic parrot for a school play in 2015, and fixing our school bell systems using a Raspberry Pi controlled by a Google spreadsheet. As Minnehaha became a "Google school" 12 years ago, I taught myself Google Apps scripting where a user can programmatically interact with Google tools such as Gmail, Google Sheets and Google Calendar. In this time I have created a Google Form generator with randomization, a Google Calendar application with advanced syncing options, a Google Sheets gradebook to Google Docs report card maker, an automatic group assignment by signups spreadsheet, a purchasing request workflow using Google Forms, and a lot more.

I have performed classification modeling on 1 million+ demographics records using XGBoost and Tensorflow Keras, created predictive models for state Medicaid markets, developed an R package for PDF scraping utilizing Google's Cloud Vision Rest API, and performed large-scale web scraping. I work on a project-by-project basis.
