Complex Human Data Hub
-
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
-
Applied Researcher
-
Jan 2021 - Sep 2022
The Complex Human Data Hub aims to build a new kind of integrated understanding of human behaviour that uses experimental psychology methods and the technology we have at our fingertips to see the world around us in a new light. The aim is to integrate individual data with that of groups and populations, allowing to learn about every level of human behaviour, preferences, and decision-making. To complement and contextualise this abundance of rich personal data, various models are used which involve advances in statistical analyses, Bayesian techniques, machine learning, and computational linguistics. These models aim to quantify and explain the many cognitive and social processes we experience in our day to day lives. The applications range from optimising user experience for products and services, to assisting large-scale policy-making in variety of settings. Show less

Apr 2015 - Sep 2022
I have been part of a team of researchers in the Vision and Attention Lab at Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences, investigating Response Modalities and Memory Constraints in Decision-Making. My responsibilities include building and testing visual experiments using VC++, MATLAB, ViSaGe Stimulus Generator, and Eyelink eyetracker, as well as data collection and preliminary data analysis. The collected data is modelled using Circular Diffusion Models.

Experimental and Computational Sociobehavioural Researcher
-
Jan 2013 - Sep 2022
I have been actively involved in the research project "Collective Self-Regulation: The Case of Climate Change Mitigation" since its inception. The project has includes large-scale online experiments with thousands of participants, producing large datasets. The main focus has been on modelling and investigating collective self-regulatory behaviours, by varying the amount of information individuals or groups have access to, as well as the nature of individual or collective goals. My responsibilities included programming, testing, and launching the experiments using Python/Django, PostgreSQL, and JavaScript, contributing to the methodological designs and quantitative analysis of the data in R and MATLAB, as well as setting up and maintaining the technical infrastructure for the highly time-sensitive data-collection on Windows Server and Ubuntu virtual platforms. VaST Systems provided flexible tools and models for a variety of embedded systems designs. Its virtualisation technology was mostly implemented using C++ and x86 assembly language, which would allow reaching real-world speeds while maintaining cycle-accurate simulation, resulting in a significant reduction in time-to-market.
