Sam is just one of those absolutely genuine humans who it's both a pleasure to know and work with. Like so many dozens of others, I initially met Sam as part of my recruitment to A Cloud Guru. Throughout the entire process, he bought an absolutely human face to process and made it very easy and enjoyable, setting a brilliant example of the culture in the organization. After joining the company, I came to know him even more as a dedicated and passionate person, who is thoroughly professional in the quality of his work. As I moved into a role as a hiring manager, he again helped sort through some of the new things I had to become familiar with! If I have a chance to work with him again, I'd definitely look forward to doing so, and recommend the same to everyone else!

I worked directly for Sam while at A Cloud Guru and found him to be an extremely thoughtful, calm, and engaged manager. He stepped in to remove blockers for me on the regular, was committed to my long term goals/development and made sure I had the support I needed to get my job done. I’m so thankful for my time on his team, he is a fantastic leader!

I lead a Talent Acquisition team who partner with our Product, Engineering and Content organisations, finding the best new Gurus across the US and Australia for our fast growing company. My role consists of a blend between people leadership, building talent acquisition processes and recruiting positions for our team/s.Highlights of my role include:- Creating a self-serve information hub for Recruiters from our US, Australian and UK teams to find information on Talent Acquisition processes, best practices and general how-to's- Working alongside our global Engineering team/s to embed the Engineering competency framework into interview scorecards and hiring practices- Automated repetitive Recruiting reports for leadership stakeholders, so that basic recruiting information could be found with less friction and without any gatekeepers- Wrote, maintained and delivered A Cloud Guru's Recruitment and Interview training for Hiring Managers and Interviewers- Created a Recruiter bandwidth model (including anticipated attrition based on ACG company averages), so that our teams could better predict periods where our Recruiting teams would be stretched beyond their capacityA Cloud Guru was acquired by PluralSight in July of 2021.

As a Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist, my role was to source and hire the best Engineering and Content talent into our team of Cloud Gurus. My work was primarily based around our needs in the Melbourne office, but I also hired positions in the US and UK.During 2019, we experienced a year of explosive growth after closing ACG's Series B raise, resulting in my contribution of hiring ~40 new people for our teams, ahead of our predicted schedule.Given I worked as part of a small team, I also got the unique opportunity to suggest solutions to problems (and then go and deliver them!) and contribute to the development of other Recruiters in our group.Highlights of my role include:- Shortly after the announcement and roll-out of A Cloud Guru's core values, delivering our first 'value-based' interview question templates, to be used to ensure all incoming new hires were values aligned to the business- Building a structure for Australia-based interview processes, that scaled in complexity depending on the level of role, including recommended interviewers- Leading a project team that delivered a talent marketing campaign to 'de-mystify' the Technical Instructor position in our Content team- Suggesting candidate experience standards for our ACG Talent team to upholdIn December of 2019, A Cloud Guru acquired Linux Academy, and I was promoted into a People Leadership role in the organisation.
