I recommend Sam as a valuable team member. He is enthusiastic, imaginative and knowledgeable. He is an eloquent and friendly communicator who can work across multiple disciplines and departments to get work done quickly, on his own or in collaboration with others.
Dr Ahmed Owais
Sam is a knowledgeable, clever, creative and self-motivated scientist. I have known Sam for 4 years while we were doing research as chemistry PhD students. Sam has been a source of inspiration for thinking out of the box and finding solutions using his outstanding skills. He is a well-educated chemist. His knowledge is broad in the field, especially in physical chemistry. Sam is experienced in surface chemistry. He is skilled in developing and characterising functional surface coatings for applications such as anti-fouling surfaces, superhydrophobic surfaces and lubricant-induced surfaces. Sam has a thorough knowledge in using surfaces characterisation instruments such as the atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and many others. Sam is a skilled programmer and he could successfully employ his programming skills in developing a brand new reliable technique to analyse lubricant-infused surfaces using AFM with great accuracy and precision. In the group, Sam was helpful to all the group members. He could donate some of his time to help and assist his peers inside and outside the lab. He is generous in transferring his knowledge to the team members, including his extracurricular knowledge. I really enjoyed working in the same group with Sam and could learn from him a lot.
