During my placement year at Wyre Council, as a trainee Building Surveyor, my duties were as follows: To assist in the day-to-day running of the Building Maintenance Section including the maintenance and development of the authorities’ estate; undertake Building Condition Surveys and site inspections; carry out inspections and disability access audits; develop AUTOCAD drawings of building related requirements; undertake site inspections of work in progress in order to ensure the requirements of H&S, specification and cost effectiveness were met; meet clients, contractors and colleagues to discuss areas and details or work under construction; keep clear and accurate records of all inspections made and matters arising; provide professional advice on Building matters to clients, colleagues and the general public; specify and instruct repair and maintenance work requirements; certify invoices for work carried in connection with Building Surveying; plan, design and manage minor works programme and improvements to a range of commercial buildings.
