I had the pleasure of working with Sam during my tenure at Commure. Sam is not only an incredibly gifted engineer, but he is truly an amazing mentor, educator, leader, and person. I have countless examples in which he has demonstrated excellence in each of these areas. While working at Commure, Sam had invested his time in educating numerous teammates on various technologies and applications, myself included. His generosity and passion for the success of his fellow engineers directly impacted me, as I considered him an unofficial mentor in my growth as an engineer. He scheduled weekly 1:1s with me to review any questions that I may have had around work and to give me career advice. In addition, Sam was a reliable resource of information ANY time that I found myself blocked. He was always quick to respond to questions and had an appropriate action to follow. I also had the opportunity to work with him on a couple of larger projects, and just doing so allowed me to learn so much in such a little amount of time. Sam also demonstrated passion and expertise in his work through numerous companywide presentations. His demonstrations were always thorough and taught at a level appropriate to those in attendance. Further, Sam's communication skills and ability to help others was on display when helping customers with technical issues that they were facing. The customers were busy, overwhelmed, and stressed hospital clinicians that were challenged during the pandemic and Sam was able to de-escalate their emotions and handle their concerns with compassion and comfort. This led to increased customer confidence, and ultimately led to the resolution of their issues. From a leadership standpoint, Sam was always willing and optimistic in facing challenges. He was seen as a subject matter expert on many different technologies and applications within the company. He was technical lead on various projects, while helping others who were on other projects concurrently. It was apparent that Sam cared about his teammates and the success of the company in everything that he did. Overall, I can not say enough good things about Sam. Not only is his future bright, but he makes any workplace a more enjoyable place to be a part of. I am excited to see where Sam takes his career and for any engineer, company, or individual that has the opportunity to work with such an intelligent, motivated, gifted, generous, and kind person.
