• Analysing insurance and investments products from Sovereign and AIA to comply with the IFRS 17 requirements as the major components is to calculate the insurance contract liability under IFRS 17 are referred to as; fulfilment cash flows, contractual service margin, risk adjustment, time value of guarantees and investment component. The liability is broken down, with consideration to onerous contracts, into liability for remaining coverage and liability for incurred claims. Major changes under the new standard when compared to IFRS 4 are the introduction of an explicit component for risk adjustment, the separation of the time value of guarantees into a separate component and the treatment of reinsurance contract liabilities. IFRS17 also changes the way profit is released, profit patterns and profit volatility.
