  As Australian resident director of all corporate companies in Australia, including Fletcher Building (Australia) P/L, the holding company of all Australian and international businesses, was responsible for compliance with general and specific laws applying to its operations. This included leading and working with various functional specialists such as Environmental, Health and Safety, Legal, Finance, Workplace relations etc to set appropriate risk parameters and ensure that governance processes were followed. As Group General Manager within the Finance Strategy and Performance team and as the most senior finance person in Australia, exercised management and oversight of the day to day finance, treasury and statutory obligations of Fletcher Building in Australia and the principal funding entity of the global group. As Head of Tax, was responsible for the governance, risk management and strategy of Fletcher Building's tax affairs globally and advise the Board, Audit and Risk Committee and Executive management on tax matters relating to maximising shareholder returns, M&A, debt and equity funding, employee share schemes and other strategic value initiatives. As Public Officer or equivalent in most jurisdictions, had authority for all taxation matters and acted as the lead in all contact with the NZ Inland Revenue, the ATO and other regulatory and industry bodies globally. Direct accountability for the delivery of finance and tax services and support to all entities within the Fletcher Building Group globally (including Europe, Asia and North America) and managed a team of Senior Tax Managers in New Zealand, Australia and the US in ensuring that Fletcher Building's legal entities meet their statutory and financial obligations in respect of all direct and indirect taxes, managing tax audits, risk reviews and disputes, funding requirements and foreign exchange and providing general advice to the business.
