Sam Holmes was a student in my ID102 Industrial Design Fundamentals Studio (Spring 2008), my ID201 Basic Industrial Design Studio (Fall 2008), and ID292/582 Introduction to 3D Game Technology (Fall 2008). I was impressed with Sam's work in my classes, and his academic performance was excellent. As a designer, Sam generates solutions to design problems very quickly and thoroughly. Never satisfied with initial answers to a problem, he works out multiple new solutions which he can then continue to develop. It is this development and refinement of solutions that I find most impressive. He creates good ideas and then improves and improves and improves upon them. Sam has very good visual skills and his drawings communicate a great deal of information about his designs. He is not afraid to learn new methods and materials, and his craft is quite good. He also has a strong grasp of how to integrate digital technology into his design process. Please provide Sam with any opportunity to continue his excellent progress.
