  I set up and tested components and systems for heating and air conditioning in industrial, agricultural, or specialty vehicles. I often built fixturing and testing equipment to simulate and measure a system or component's response to harsh conditions. I also gathered data and present my findings in formal reports to provide feedback for the design and troubleshooting processes. The testing that I was involved with ranged from extended life cycle durability of a single part to the performance of an air conditioning system under controlled ambient conditions while installed in a running vehicle.

  I designed and built prototypes of new product concepts for general clients. This position required SolidWorks CAD modeling, client interaction, and fabrication skills. I took projects from the introduction of the concept, through design and into manufacture of prototypes. I built many of the components myself on a CNC mill and through SLA rapid plastic prototyping. I then worked with manufacturers to optimize the part for production. From this student position I learned a great deal about the design of new products and components. I gained valuable insights into the intricacies of manufacturing procedures such as mill tool capacities and plastic flow in an injection mold.

  I cleared existing trails of rocks, trees, and vegetation using hand tools. I also built rock retaining walls to reduce erosion and prevent damage from hikers. I was on a four person crew that generally worked ten day tours and camped near the trail that were working on. For several of the tours we were packed in by horses and operated the full ten days with only the supplies that we could carry or strap to a horse.
