Researcher in computational astrophysics working to combine high-resolution observational data of nebulae in our local universe with state-of-the-art simulations. Currently a guest researcher supervising a Masters project on the impact of massive stars in a range of cosmic environments. From February to August 2023, held a guest contract as a masters supervisor. Mar 2019 - Jan 2023
Senior postdoctoral researcher in computational astrophysics. A strong focus on interdisciplinary resesarch, connecting disparate problem domains (stellar evolution and large-scale galactic fluid dynamics) and identifying points of mutual benefit. From 2022, I am a guest researcher at Amsterdam connecting the stellar evolution team with the interstellar medium team in Leiden. I run complex fluid simulations, having won grants for 7.5M CPU hours on the Dutch national supercomputer with several 10s of data output. I develop software tools for big data analysis to reduce the results for publication in top astronomy journals, and am internationally recognised, giving high quality oral presentations in conferences and institutes worldwide. I have also organised international interdisciplinary workshops, supervised highly successful student projects, designed and taught courses, and am highly motivated to improve my workplace with organisational tasks. Student position between semesters, working on the data acquisition and post-processing suites for seabed mapping sonar systems. Developed key front- and back-end systems for real-time interactive 2D and 3D visualisation and graphical user interfaces, memory management, data analysis and management, sensor calibration and hardware interfaces. I presented a paper about the techniques I developed for 3D visualisation to the Hydro04 conference in Galway, Ireland.
