Water Resources Specialist II
-
Jul 2022 - Mar 2023
In this role I focused primarily on the implementation of groundwater recharge projects. I managed two grants totaling about $8.4 million dollars and provided project management for other grant programs. This required time management, consultant relations, technical writing, and constituent outreach. I also worked to develop a program to allow individual growers to utilize private flowmeters to measure groundwater consumption, in compliance with adopted groundwater allocations. This position required the ability to manage multiple projects at once and the ability to be flexible and accessible to constituents. This highly dynamic environment allowed me to utilize both soft and technical skills to solve complex issues and develop alternative courses of action, as necessary. I continued to ensure compliance with NPDES regulations for the County, including MS4 permitting. Show less

Water Resources Specialist I
-
Jan 2021 - Jul 2022
I started with Madera County in the Flood Control and Water Conservation Agency, while also providing support to the County Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs). In this role I was primarily responsible for working to improve the operations and maintenance of the flood control infrastructure within the County. This involved acquiring and managing grants for flood control maintenance and repair and coordinating with County Public Works and outside vendors to complete maintenance activities on and around project facilities. I also was responsible for compliance of the County's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) and other stormwater and water quality issues pursuant to the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES). To support the GSAs I helped to implement a pilot of a water market project, assisted in developing groundwater allocations, and providing technical support and analysis for the development of water budgets for dairy facilities. Resident Advisor
-
Sep 2016 - Jun 2019
I served in this role for three years, each with a different population of students, ranging from first year students to graduating seniors. In my third year, I was directly responsible for a floor of about 60 continuing students. As an RA I planned educational programming for my residents, upheld community standards and safety, and worked with campus partners to provide resources to residents. Due to the unpredictable nature of this line of work, the position required a great amount of flexibility and time management as situations can arise at any time. The advisor role also greatly strengthened my critical thinking skills and ability to handle high-profile situations as I have had to make quick decisions while helping students in crisis or addressing serious health concerns.
