My role as regional director includes the management of our branch office in Pietermaritzburg consisting of three permanent staff. It also includes chairing our IT Committee, management of our company IT hardware and software installations, implementing and running IT based business management tools, participating in the strategic planning of the company, day to day management of my office, managing staff, retaining Clients and sourcing new business for the firm. Due to the small size of the office I am also actively involved in preparing viability studies, estimates, value engineering, preparing contractual documentation and administering projects. Show less

Quantity Surveyor

Sep 2007 - Jul 2008
During this period I was seconded to the Consortium responsible for the construction of the greenfields King Shaka International Airport outside Durban. My role included the cost management of the passenger terminal building and included administration, estimating and value engineering. This was a fantastic project to be a part of in and a once in a lifetime experience to be involved in the construction of a green fields airport. This is definitely a major highlight in my career and the largest and one of the most complex projects I have worked on to date. It was fantastic to be involved with such a dynamic and enthusiastic team who were driven to the success of the project. Their were many complexities and challenges to over come and we all grew immensely over this period. The structure of the consortium was very interesting and it was the first FIDIC and design and building project of this magnitude I had been involved in. Show less
