Head of Events, UK
-
Jan 2021 - Jul 2023
My role involves coordinating with music labels/distros and artist management around booking in-store events across all our Rough Trade stores. In-stores are used to promote a musician/band's latest release where we would retail the album as entry to an exclusive live performance and signing. With some larger artists, we may use this mechanism to put on larger shows at bigger venues outside of our shops.I also help oversee the Co-Op Marketing bookings within the company in regard to the paid marketing spaces available in each store and online. Head of Bar & Events, UK
-
Jan 2021 - Apr 2023
My primary role involves coordinating with music labels/distros and artist management around booking in-store events across all our Rough Trade stores. In-stores are used to promote a musician/band's latest release where we would retail the album as entry to an exclusive live performance and signing. With some larger artists, we may use this mechanism to put on larger shows at bigger venues outside of the shops. A few artists I've worked with in the past are, The Vaccines, Little Simz, Jordan Rakei, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Jake Bugg, Tom Odell, Jungle, Damon Albarn, and more.I look after the overall cafe/bar offer for each store, determining what is sold at each site, paying particular attention to margins, customer demand, and profitability. I feel it's important for each store to have its own individuality while keeping the offer recognisable to customers visiting every Rough Trade store. Show less

UK Bar Manager
-
May 2018 - Jan 2021
Overseeing the Bar/Cafe sectors for all UK Rough Trade sites which include East London, Nottingham, and Bristol. This includes staff training on till, bar, and cellar operations. Judging which products work best and molding each sites bar offer individually, while keeping a sense of familiarity for customers who would visit every Rough Trade store. In-depth analysis of each products margin and profitability is key, as well as viewing how well each store control their stock levels MoM, while investigating ways to lower their variances and improve sales efficiency. This, in turn, improves the customer's overall experience at a Rough Trade. I look to preserve good working relationships with major company wide suppliers, ensuring we get the best price for the products we are retailing. We then deliver a good price to the customers, while keeping profit margins sustainable and healthy. Show less

Bar & Events Manager
-
Sep 2015 - Jan 2021
In this role, I spearhead the bar offer for the Nottingham store as well as booking events for the 2nd floor live music/events space. I've formed good working relationships with local and national suppliers to ensure we are getting the best available price to maximise margins and pursuing an overall sizable profit percentage. I also have the responsibility of being DPS to ensure the venue is operating to licensing standards. On events, I liaise and organise shows with local and independent promoters, as well as national promotions, such as DHP, Live Nation, and BBC Introducing. The events space hosts not just live music but DJs, film screenings, Q&As, book/zine launches and community-driven events such as Drag Bingo, Lego Club, baby groups, Light Night and Nottingham Pride. A few of the artists we have worked with on live in-store events include Sleaford Mods, Jake Bugg, The Charlatans, Enter Shikari, Big Narstie, Blossoms, Feeder, The Amazons, Placebo, Frank Carter, Brian Fallon and more.
