I have been working at Skiddle full time for over a year. I work primarily with React JS to create front end web applications with great user experience to increase engagement and, in turn, revenue for the business. This includes working with React Hooks, Redux and various code quality tools such as Prop Types, Prettier and Eslint. As well as working with React, this role has allowed me to dabble in AWS, namely their CodeBuild and CodePipeline tools to help support continuous integration of the React app, as well as services like Cognito and S3. During a major systems rebuild at In Touch Networks we made the move from PHP to JavaScript (NodeJS and ReactJS). Despite being a steep learning curve moving between such different programming languages, I managed to learn on-the-fly and became responsible for the management and development of the back-end systems, mainly the API which controls the main member portal at In Touch Networks.I am continuing to learn different aspects of JavaScript, currently I have mostly worked with NodeJS through the framework Express, but I've also used React to an extent. My work at this job first started in year 10 of High School for 2 weeks of work experience, my proper employment started when I was a student at Bury College, my timetable was flexible in college which allowed me to do a couple of hours here and there, and during holidays from college I would work full time from 9-5, Mon-Fri. My roles included scanning, shredding or processing confidential documents for the council, working closely with the Trent and ITrent payroll systems by adding records to certain employees and other responsibilities like that. I also did some manual work by sorting out the storeroom including throwing old documents away in a safe manner. Show less
