In my current role at Buckeye Professional Advancement and Development, I am honored to have been admitted to a highly selective professional organization and to have previously been elected as the Vice President of Service for my member class. One of my proudest achievements in this role was the development of a personal relationship with Versiti Blood Center of Ohio. In doing so, I was able to organize and host a blood drive for BPAD to collect donations, highlighting our commitment to service and giving back to our community. Amidst my time abroad and my internship at the Environmental Research Institute of Charlotteville, Tobago, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Trinidad and Tobago to conduct field research on marine organisms and ecosystems. During my four weeks on the island, I had the privilege of working alongside locals and the Environmental Research Institute of Charlottesville Tobago to tag sea turtles, excavate nests, and reintroduce coral and marine life to dying marine ecosystems. This hands-on work allowed me to gain a deep understanding of the challenges facing marine ecosystems and the critical role that research and conservation efforts play in preserving these vital resources. Throughout my internship, I was able to apply my academic knowledge and gain valuable real-world experience in the field of marine biology. Working alongside a talented and dedicated team, I was able to contribute to ongoing research efforts and make a tangible impact on the environment and the community. Overall, my experience at the Environmental Research Institute of Charlotteville, Tobago was an invaluable opportunity to learn and grow, both personally and professionally.
