To assist the new Office Manager at Jenkinson Electrical Engineering, I have been available remotely to assist with any queries and to check over various accounts information and feedback. My main responsibilities have included checking Management Accounting reports, Payroll, the General Ledger and VAT returns. Initially I was required at least once a month and as the new team has gained experience this has reduced to once every three months; this role is likely to end completely after I have assisted with 2019-2020 financial year end.

In this role I worked within a small team to complete all day to day Accounts and Payroll tasks, including Accounts Payable / Receivable, VAT returns, Tax and N.I submissions and the completion of Sub-Contractors CIS payments / statements. In November 2012, I got promoted to Office Manager and worked with a part time Accounts Assistant; this was a fantastic experience as it was the first opportunity I have had to develop my skills of managing people. My role as Office Manager was predominantly focused on Financial and Management Accounting and Payroll tasks, reporting directly to the Managing Director. Due to the small size of the company, my role was varied and included other tasks focused around HR, Training and Fleet Management.Alongside my CIMA studies I was keen to get involved more in the Management Accounting side of things, particularly the way in which the company analysed profit and absorbed overheads. I was given the opportunity to re-evaluate the current spread sheets in place and the calculations involved in calculating profits on individual contracts.

After passing the CIMA Strategic Case Study examination, I was asked to return to Wise Owl Training as a Tutor, I completed a module of teaching at the Operational Level of CIMA to an evening class of students of all ages; this was on a pre-arranged temporary basis before leaving the UK to travel. The Managing Director provided lesson plans that I was able to use as a detailed guide for how to structure classes each week.
