Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Band 7
-
Jan 2020 - Mar 2022
During this role, I was responsible for setting up an independent nurse led ADHD clinic with a caseload of 200 patients across 2 different services - CAMHS and Community Paediatrics. This set up included a care pathway as well as structure of the clinic. My responsibilities included reviewing the stable ADHD every six months as well as ensuring stabilisation and optimisation of ADHD medication. With this responsibility also came the responsibility of ensuring that the patients were medically well as well as emotionally.I continued to team lead the special school nursing team and liaise between the senior leadership teams of the special schools there were within our remit. The other duties within this role, remained the same.As this role was during the COVID-19 pandemic, this was certainly a challenge to set up, however it became a functioning and beneficial addition to an already overstretched service.

Learning Disability Nurse Specialist - Band 7
-
Dec 2017 - Jan 2020
During this role I discovered a love for neurodevelopmental disorders and gained professional as well as person experience in this area. During this role, I learned how to assess and support those with both ADHD and Autism spectrum disorders, setting up a post diagnostic ASD support group for parents. I became proficient in understanding analysing assessment and diagnostic criteria for those who were being assessed for ADHD and ASD. I became skilled in ADOS2 assessments as well as gaining experience with ADIR assessments. During time I team managed a small team linked to the special schools within Havering, taking the lead clinically as well as supporting through 1:1 supervision and regular team meetings. I was responsible for the KPIs linked to the team, gathering information and reporting monthly to the senior leadership team. Lastly during this time, I studied for my V300 Non medical prescribing qualification which I passed in August 2017.Whilst working in this role, I found this to be the most challenging of my career. However, with a great team and supportive and loyal manager I feel as though I really started to focus on my calling as a specialist nurse and I will always be grateful for the support I received during this time.

Community Childrens Nurse - Band 6
-
Sep 2011 - Apr 2012
In September 2011I started working at Tower Hamlets Paediatric Community Nursing Team. My role as a band six community nurse means that I could explore an area of nursing which is new to me and focus on my patients and families needs within the home environment. Within this role I learnt to work autonomously and plan my own caseload. As a team we provided patients and their familes with clinical skills such as dressing changes, bloods, saturation and blood pressure monitoring as well as teaching on epipens, tracheostomies, seizure management and eczema. We also acted as advocates for our patients in discharge planning meetings, case conferences and core group meetings.

Paediatric Staff Nurse - Band 5
-
Jan 2009 - Sep 2011
In January 2009 I returned to the Royal London Hospital on the Paediatric Critical Care Unit. Whilst working there I have enhanced my HDU skills even further and have a complete understanding of NCPAP using the Infant flow driver and using the Datix Ohmeda ventilator. I learned how to use BIPAP and also gained established Intensive care skills by caring for Intubated and ventilated patients including trauma patients and post surgical patients. I gained discharge planning skills as we regularly had long term tracheotomy patients on the unit where discharge planning needs to be commenced. Whilst working on the unit I set up an audit which showed the dependency of the patients who came to the unit. It shows the amount of HDU patients, amount of ITU patients, how many outside referrals that are received and where the patients are transferred from and transferred to. This audit shows the activity of the unit. During this time I also benchmarked the unit using Essence of Care and was Mentorship link for students. During my return the Royal London I completed the Acutely Ill Child HDU Course which is run by South Bank University in March 2010.
