The Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC), and the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) have launched the ‘Biodiversity Samrakshan Internship Programme’ (BSIP), a unique initiative to promote youth participation in conservation. 25 Interns from all over the India have been selected to participate in the programme who will assist MoEF&CC, NBA, State Biodiversity Boards, Union Territory Biodiversity Councils and UNDP India in the following tasks: • Assist in the operationalization and functioning of Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) in the State Biodiversity Boards (SBBs) / Union Territory Biodiversity Councils (UTBCs) • Assist BMCs in the preparation of People’s Biodiversity Registers (PBRs)/e-PBRs • Assist in the India Biodiversity Awards process • Assist in the implementation of Biological Diversity Act, 2002.
