It is my personal pleasure to highly recommend Sahar Kazem. I met Sahar during an interesting time: In the midst of a pandemic. Sahar was an Emergency Data Relief Intern on The COVID-19 Data Project by BroadStreet. The COVID-19 Data Project is a fully remote team of over 400 interns. With such a big team, it takes a special person to stand out. Sahar definitely stood out. From the very beginning, we recognized her skillset around data and teamwork and we assigned her to the challenging role of quality assurance. She was such an outstanding contributor during her time on the project, I cannot recommend her highly enough. I can personally attest to Sahar’s excellent qualifications for this program. Sahar is: • Dedicated to community health and improving healthcare. During a pandemic, there is a lot of uncertainty. Sahar had the integrity to volunteer towards a greater cause during this time and proved to be a dedicated and reliable team member. Sahar is incredibly interested in the business and financial side of healthcare. In particular, she is interested in how non-profit hospitals play a role community reinvestment, philanthropy, outreach and preventive services. I have no doubt that her excellent data acumen will serve her well in that field. • Skilled in teamwork and communication. Every day and week, we could rely on Sahar to communicate effectively and to deliver on goals. While working on a remote, global team, Sahar was an outstanding and trustworthy team member. She was a joy to work with a valued team member. • Comfortable with large datasets. While working on The COVID-19 Data Project, Sahar was responsible for quality assurance on a large, crowdsourced, longitudinal dataset that updated continuously. There were thousands of datapoints and Sahar always demonstrated a love and appreciation of data and the data management process. She was able to find and fix trend breaks as well as research discrepancies. Without a doubt, Sahar has a natural gift for data. • Organized and reliable. Sahar has the organizational skillset and integrity needed to deliver in a remote work environment. Sahar was uniquely able to accomplish self-directed, work-related responsibilities during the global unrest created by COVID-19. This is certainly a tremendous accomplishment. Sahar has excelled beyond their peers. It is a great combination of skills when a person is dedicated to public health and data, is a great team member and communicator, as well as organized enough to work remotely. It is absolutely my pleasure to recommend Sahar.
