I had the chance to work with Sahar, Manuel and the SMAL team – then still ZIBA Munich – on the development of several medical device projects, ranging from mock-ups for management meetings to production ready UIs for devices and applications. I am still impressed by the exceptional skills of these guys to grasp the essential complexity of medical device user interfaces, i.e. to combine safety and usability with functionality and « the fun to work with ». Add to this their close to insane reactivity (we wanted it « yesterday » so they made it happen!), a pro-active, creative attitude that made the collaboration a real team work and a sleek modern style and you understand why I recommend them to anyone who seeks real design partners to make better products. I am happy that all of the people I worked with made it into the new SMAL and I am looking forward to working with them again.
