It was apparent that opportunities were being lost due to a lack of a coherent and integrated Research and Development Strategy. I developed such a strategy that assisted internal staff and potential funders to understand how Research and Development contributed to the overall Trust Strategy and ultimately patient care and outcomes. In response, I wrote the first Trust Research and Development Strategy that increased funding by 1000%. I delivered governance policies and Standard Operating Procedures that conformed to EU and international standards for research and clinical trials (EU/FDA and ICH-GCP). This provided assurance for the Trust Board and a Clinical Trials Unit was established. I managed key stakeholder relationships with funders, including charitable foundations and pharmaceutical companies. Show less
